Google Expands AI Plan Features Across Workspace and Gemini
Google details new AI plan features for voice, visual creation, Sheets, and Gemini-connected tasks.

Google has outlined additions to its AI subscription plans, including voice-driven drafting in Gmail, Docs, and Keep; visual creation tools in Workspace; and a way to turn Sheets into interactive mini-apps from a prompt. The update was published on September 9 by Vikas Kansal, group product manager for AI subscriptions, as a seasonal round-up of what the paid plans now include.
Voice input is the broadest change. Subscribers can dictate documents, ask for information from their inbox and capture notes by speaking; Google says the feature is available with the AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans in Gmail and Keep, and with AI Pro and Ultra in Docs. Google Pics, an image creation and editing tool inside Workspace, is pitched at posters, social posts and edits to digital illustrations, and is limited to AI Pro and Ultra. Sheets canvas, also for Pro and Ultra, turns spreadsheet data into custom interactive "mini-apps" from a single prompt.
The update also describes Gemini Spark connections with Chrome and Google Photos for eligible plans in the United States. Google says Spark can run web errands, edit photos and curate albums when asked through Gemini, but only for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. for now. Eligible college students worldwide can also claim a year of a Google AI plan at no charge. Availability differs by product and subscription tier, a recurring theme as AI features move from demos into everyday productivity software.
The larger signal is the continuing integration of generative AI into familiar work surfaces. Rather than a new standalone product, each of these features lives inside a tool people already open every day, and the subscription tier decides which ones appear. Read Google's announcement.
